The Belarusian Athletin Kristina Timanovskaya is allowed to travel to Poland after her helpership from Sunday evening and is said to receive asylum. This told her husband on Monday to the office of the news agency AFP in the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
"She will probably go to Poland," said Arseni Zdanewich. He himself had fled from Belarus to Kiev. He continued to say that he hopes to follow his wife "in the near future" to Poland. "I think it would not be safe for me to be there (in Belarus, D.Red.)," Led the 25-year-old fitness trainer.
Deputy Polish Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz explained the sprinterin in "direct contact" with Polish diplomats in Tokyo and Warsaw. You will "do everything necessary to help you continue your sporty career". Poland is a decisive critic of his eastern neighbors and is home to a growing number of Belarussen.
In the interview with the Belarussian sports website Tribuna.com on Sunday evening Timanovskaya worded their concern, Belarus was "not sure" for them and they have "fear, they could put me in jail".
According to the Belarusian Sports Solidarity Foundation (BSSF), a non-governmental organization of the Eastern European country, Timanovskaya is expected in Poland over the week.
The 24-year-old Timanovskaya spent the night for Monday in a hotel at Haneda Airport, after the social media had feared to be brought back to Belarus against her will. She also called the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for help.
IOC confirms: Timanovskaya safe
IOC speaker Mark Adams confirmed on Monday morning, Timanovskaya is "safe", the rings have again contacted her and asked the Belarusian NOK to relocate in writing to the allegations.
On Monday morning, the sprinterin originally stood in the start list for a run over 200 m at the Olympic Summer Games. The Belarusian NOK publicly explained that Timanowskaya "due to their emotional and psychological condition" could no longer participate in the games.

Trigger of the affair was apparently a now deleted video that Timanovskaya had posted at Instagram. In it, she criticized the Belarusian Athletics Association. Timanovskaya announced that she had been forced to attend the 4x400 race because the association did not guarantee the number of sufficient doping controls for the athletes provided for the season.
