The need for speed development is returned to Criterion Games - criterion - Video Peeling news, instructions, exemplary procedures, reviews and culture
Ghost Games becomes EA Gothenburg, a support hub for EA engineering.
EA has announced (via gamesindustry) that the development of the _ need after speed_ franchise is returned to ausburn developer criterion games. After spending the largest part of their time ausbrennen, criterion worked on two _ need for speed_ games - Heisse persecution in 2010 and Meistucht in 2012.
Subsequently, the reins were transferred to Ghost Games, which worked on four _ need for speed_ games a total of need for speed rivals (worked on the criterion also in a supporting function), the reboot 2015, need for speed payback and last year bedarf to speed heat. For the largest part of the decade, Criterion acted as a support studio (last developed Battlefield 5's Battle Royale mode, fire storm).
EA has confirmed that Ghost Games is renamed EA Gothenburg and will not provide technical assistance as an enterprise-wide support hub for EA.
"The technical know-how in our Gothenburg team, some of which are the frostbite engine architects, is crucial for a number of our ongoing projects, and they would remain on this location," says EA.
In the meantime, creative talents in Ghost Games will be relocated to various other studios. However, up to 30 employees are still endangered to lose their workplace.
"Outside the engineers and those who want to relocate to other positions, 30 additional employees would be employed in Gothenburg, and we would hope to put as many of them as possible in other roles in the company," EA said.
The publisher also explained why this change is made. The location of Ghost Games - Gothenburg, Sweden - has simply not met the requirements to win talents for working on important AAA productions. As such, EA moves the development of _ need after speed_ back to criterion.
"With a strong history and passion for racing games and a vision for what we can do, the Criterion team Need for Speed will bring to the next generation," said EA.
"Ghost Games have helped to achieve some great results _ need after speed, experiences for our players," explained the publisher. In order to consistently implement this on AAA level, we need teams with different skills at locations where we can continuously support them and gain new team members for accession. Despite our efforts to build an independent development group in Gothenburg for several years, it has become clear that the range of talents we need to maintain a complete AAA studio is simply not available. Criterion can also provide the consistent leadership we need to create and provide new Need for Speed experiences over a long time.
"Criterion is a fantastic studio and we look forward to expanding its talented team and build a great future for building _ need after speed. The engineering teams in Gothenburg are also crucial for our running plans. "
